mountain view retail

Know when a register, card terminal or store link goes down.

Mountain View Retail puts one outbound-only agent in each store. Every 60 seconds it checks POS stations, payment terminals, receipt printers, routers and ISP lines, then alerts the regional contact while the store is still trading.

Priced per store, from $29 a month. 14-day trial on up to 5 stores.

What the agent watches in each store

Five views, one per question a store operations team asks when sales stop.

01

Every store on one board

Group stores by region or district. Each row shows lanes ready, internet path and open incidents, so a regional manager sees which store to call first.

02

Checkout lane checks

A lane is ready when the POS station, card terminal and receipt printer all answer. The agent uses the check that fits each device: ICMP ping, a TCP port such as 9100 for network printers, or an HTTPS health page.

03

ISP and failover links

The agent measures latency and packet loss to the internet from inside the store and reads router counters over SNMP v2c or v3. When a store drops to its LTE backup, you see it before card approvals slow down.

04

Alerts that reach the right person

Route each store's alerts to its store manager, regional lead or IT contact by email or HTTPS webhook. A device has to fail three checks in a row before anyone is notified, and alerts outside opening hours wait for the morning summary.

05

Trading-hours uptime reports

Uptime is counted only while each store is open, so an overnight router reboot does not hide a lunchtime outage. Weekly reports rank stores and device types, and export as CSV for your ISP or hardware vendor conversations.

Built to stay outside your payment environment

Store networks carry card traffic. The agent is designed to check that devices are alive without touching what they process.

Outbound only
The agent opens HTTPS connections on port 443 to our service. No inbound ports, VPN tunnels or remote shell.
No transaction data
Checks collect reachability, latency, open ports and SNMP counters. POS databases, receipts and card data are never read.
Encrypted in transit and at rest
TLS 1.2 or higher between agent and service; stored check history encrypted with AES-256.
Role-based access
Store managers see their store, regional leads see their region, admins manage devices and alert routes.
Export and delete
Export device lists and history as CSV or JSON any time. Account data is deleted within 30 days of cancellation.
Support response
Email replies within one business day on Store, four business hours on Operations, one hour around the clock on Enterprise.

Questions from store operations teams

Does the agent see card numbers or sales data?

No. The agent only checks whether devices answer: ping, open ports, HTTPS health pages and SNMP counters. It never reads POS databases, transaction logs or payment traffic, so it stays outside your cardholder data flow.

What do we need to install in each store?

One agent on any always-on machine in the store, such as a back-office PC or a small Linux box. It needs outbound HTTPS on port 443 only. No inbound firewall rules, VPN or port forwarding.

Which devices can it monitor?

Anything with an IP address on the store network: POS workstations, payment terminals, receipt and label printers, routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points and the store's internet links, including LTE backup.

Will we get alerts at 3 a.m. when the store is closed?

Only if you want them. You set opening hours per store, and outages outside those hours are logged and summarized in the morning instead of paging anyone.

How is it billed?

Per active store per month. Devices inside a store are included up to the plan limit, and there is no setup fee. See the Pricing page for plan details.

Can we export our data or delete it?

Yes. Device lists, check history and incident logs export as CSV or JSON at any time. When you cancel, your account data is deleted within 30 days.
